I was admitted to the Florida bar in January 2008 and opened my law practice in February 2008.
Prior to opening my own law practice and while still in law school, I was a certified legal intern at the West Palm Beach Public Defender’s Office. It was a great job.
After my internship ended there, I became a certified legal intern at the Broward County Public Defender’s Office. This was a great job too.
As a result of my zealous advocacy in both places, I won an award and scholarship from the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.
After law school and the internships, I worked at a law office from March 2005 to October 2006, that handled bankruptcy, immigration, IRS representation, foreclosure defense and business law. This is where I learned a lot of the law that I now find myself involved in.
The commercial collections came about because in late October 2006, I left the law firm to work for a collection agency. I remained with the collection agency until opening my own practice.
Both my masters and law degree are from St. Thomas University in Miami, Florida. I finished my masters in June 2002 and finished my law degree in December 2004. My masters is in Pastoral Counseling (a.k.a. Practical Theology). For my undergraduate degree, I graduated from Syracuse University in 1998 with a bachelor’s in Philosophy.
Currently, I am involved in the Marriage Ministry at St. Ambrose Catholic Church. I also volunteer my legal services to the Respect Life Ministry for the Arch Diocese of Miami and am a volunteer lawyer for Alliance Defending Freedom.
I am a Sandan in Aikido, which means I have third degree black belt. I practice regularly and am a member of Florida Akikai, Aikido of Palm Beach County and Daitoryu Aikijujutsu Ginjukai. I also study under Dan Harden and practice Systema under Dave and Rick Merrell. You can read more at my martial arts site, Black Belt Lawyer.
Previous to all this, I was in the Army and was stationed at Fort Benning, GA in the 3/75th Army Ranger battalion, as an Airborne Ranger and then the 29th Infantry Regimental Headquarters. While in the service, I received an Army commendation medal, an Army Achievement Medal and a Certificate of Achievement for being the top graduate out of boot camp.
